The company also announced its new image analysis engine, which can scan images embedded in an e-mail to look for pornographic
material. The company says nearly 10% of all e-mail contains pornographic images – usually .jpg or .gif files – or contains
information related to pornography.
Compliance Profiler is a part of IronMail 6.5, and will be include in the appliance’s base price that starts at $9,995. The
image analysis module starts at $5,995 for up to 1,000 users.
Also on Monday, hosted encryption service provider Zix announced ZixDirect, a service that offers e-mail encryption without
requiring encryption capabilities on the receiving end, according to company officials.
The new service encrypts an e-mail and its attachments and sends them as an HTML attachment to another e-mail, officials say.
The recipient clicks on the attachment to open the secure message, which is downloaded to the recipient’s PC so it can be
read even when offline.
The new service does require the sender’s organization to have Zix’s Virtual Private Messanger 3.0 installed, but alleviates
the need for the recipient to have any encryption or decryption capabilities and doesn’t require the recipient to access a
Web site in order to read the secure message, officials say.
ZixDirect is priced between $10 and $40 per license per year, depending on the number of licenses purchased.
