Fiberlink aims latest security features at mobile workers

Fiberlink announced Monday that it is beefing up its security services for mobile workers.

The service provider has added security features to its Extend360 client that sits on end-user laptop devices by integrating software from SecureWave and Internet Security Systems (ISS).

Fiberlink is using the SecureWave Sanctuary Suite to allow customers to more securely manage their mobile workforce. The software lets users set up and enforce application and mobile device policies for all employees.

Policies include determining which applications and services can be used on which devices, types of encryption that must be used and how much information can be accessed via removable media devices.

Fiberlink offers global, secure remote access services for enterprise users. Its Extend360 portal lets managers keep laptop devices secure even when not directly connected to their enterprise network, the service provider says.

Fiberlink also announced last week that it is expanding its relationship with ISS to offer customers a new threat management service. The two companies have been working together since 2001.

The service provider has worked closely with ISS to integrate ISS’ Proventia Desktop Threat Protection Software with its Extend360 client software. The threat management software is managed by Fiberlink.

The Proventia software is used to identify and block attacks, unwanted intrusions, viruses, worms, malicious code and filters unwanted traffic and spam.

Both security options are available now to Fiberlink customers.
